Older Adults Lifespan Action Group

Wave Only Alliance.png

The Older Adults Lifespan Action Group is committed to ensuring that older members of our community are seen, valued and well-supported. The group brings together people from aged care, health, community services and the broader community who understand what it means to age well in the Barossa.

Getting older in a regional community brings both richness and challenge. For many, the Barossa is a place where they’ve built their lives, raised families and contributed for decades. This group works to make sure that as people age, they continue to have access to the services, connections and opportunities they need to live with dignity, purpose and belonging.

The Older Adults group draws on community engagement data, the experience of its members and the voices of older Barossa residents to develop practical, respectful actions that respond to real need.

Our Focus

Older adults in the Barossa bring decades of knowledge, experience, and connection to this community. The Older Adults Lifespan Action Group is here to support our region to be a place where people can age well with purpose, connection and genuine belonging.

Our work focuses on:

  • creating safe, welcoming, and accessible spaces where older adults feel included and connected

  • supporting people to stay active, independent, and socially connected as they age

  • addressing the growing barriers to transport, health, and allied health access

  • reducing the stigma around ageing and building community confidence and awareness, including around dementia.

Governance & Support

The Older Adults Lifespan Action Group is community-led and Council-enabled, bringing together community members, organisations and service providers to shape priorities and support collaborative action. Council provides the structure, coordination, resources and connections that support the group to operate, while priorities and actions are shaped through community voice and shared participation. The group contributes to the implementation of the Barossa Wellbeing & Inclusion Plan by helping turn community priorities into tangible actions through collaboration and shared participation
