To be listed in the Community Asset Directory, an asset must meet the following criteria:
1. Located in or primarily serving the Barossa region
The asset is based in the Barossa Council area or is directly accessible to and primarily serving Barossa residents.
2. Contributes to community wellbeing
The asset demonstrably supports one or more of the four strategic priorities of the Barossa Wellbeing & Inclusion Plan:
• Healthy, Active Lifestyles
• Safe, Inclusive & Welcoming Spaces
• Belonging, Connection & Participation
• Learning, Creativity & Purposeful Contribution
3. Is community-facing and accessible
The asset is open to community members to access, use or participate in.
4. Is a legitimate, currently operating entity
The asset is currently active and operating. Dissolved organisations, inactive groups or one-off events are not eligible for a permanent listing.
Types of Assets that are eligible
• Community groups, clubs and associations (sporting clubs, craft groups, men’s sheds, garden clubs, neighbourhood groups)
• Walking trails, parks, playgrounds and outdoor recreation spaces
• Health and wellbeing services (GPs, allied health, mental health, alcohol and drug support, disability services)
• Community support services (food relief, emergency support, financial counselling)
• Early childhood, youth and aged care services and programs
• Cultural, arts and creative programs and organisations
• Education and lifelong learning programs (libraries, TAFE, community education)
• Faith communities and spiritual support organisations
• Volunteer organisations and programs
• Government services directly relevant to community wellbeing
Types of Assets that are not eligible
• Private commercial businesses without a specific, accessible community wellbeing function
• National chains or franchises without a specific local Barossa presence or program
• Political parties or campaign organisations
• Organisations under investigation or subject to regulatory action
• Assets that have ceased operating

Some assets will sit in grey areas. The Council Wellbeing team applies the following test:
